Case Study - Falcon Grove Medical Centre
Falcon Grove Medical centre has recently expanded into new premises, which meant an increase in the number of consulting rooms driving a refresh of all their IT equipment.
When Heron Consulting met with Falcon Grove the new surgery was still in the planning stage. Partners Dr Magga Naidoo and Dr Padmainie Kain understood that IT would play an important role in their business strategy. They were seeking knowledgeable, trustworthy advice and, having dealt with us before, they felt that Heron Consulting were the ideal company to meet their needs.
The new surgery required a network that could initially support 10 staff members. Their principal need was reliable access to their practice management software, as well as a centralised location to store documents and access to email. Access to patient notes from outside the office on laptops and mobile devices was an essential requirement.
We supplied and installed the network, workstations and server. We liased with the telecoms provider and electrical contractor to facilitate their requirements on the network. We delivered a cost effective solution within their budget that allowed for upgrades in the future.
We also project managed the transfer of existing patient notes and associated services such as results and Medicare online. This ensured the minimum possible downtime between closing the old surgery and opening the new one.
The Project Manager appointed by Falcon Grove was happy to rely on Heron Consulting to assist with any medical-specific knowledge required. We assisted with many of the elements which interoperate with the IT, such as telecoms, cabling and electrical planning. We even had discussions about things like furniture layout as this also is an important factor when considering the workstation area, particularly for receptionists.
Heron Consulting took care of the entire roll-out and were on hand on opening day so that the practice staff could focus on other important aspects of starting a new surgery without having to worry about IT.
